Anderson Page 1 of 8 Robert Anderson Prof. Santoro English Comp 1 sec 151 Research Paper April 29, 2008 Anabolic Steroid Anabolic steroid is widely being used by young teens throughout middle school and high school. Studies reveal that children in fifth, sixth, and seventh grade, aging from 9-13 are using anabolic steroids.(isteroids) Think of a number that would represent the percentage of middle school students that have taken an anabolic steroid at least once. â€Å"According to steroid stats of various studies, 5.4% of all middle school students are reported using steroids. This includes 2.6% male students, and 2.8% female students.†(isteroids) â€Å"Steroid use is growing among 12-17 year old males, and the average adolescent begins†¦show more content†¦That was probably the biggest lesson I learned from him. I just remember thinking to myself that I would never take steroids because if I did, I would not be able to play baseball, a game I loved so much. I will never forget my little league coach, Glenn Cipilone, and the lessons he taught me. As I matured, it bec ame easier for me to learn and understand the points in which my coach was trying to get me to understand. As a young boy, most of the things that were said to me went in one ear and out the other because I was more focused on having fun. As I got older, I could better understand coach Cipilone’s lessons as well as taking on new ones from my middle school coach, and teachers. At this age I was more mature which helped me to listen and understand what my coach was saying. My middle school coach was also my health and gym teacher. This was great because he was able to take what he was teaching me on the field as a player to the classroom as student. I always look at sports as a fun activity so I did not want to learn while I was out there playing. I think it was easier to absorb information in the classroom as a student. My teachers, coaches, and peers helped me the most in having a negative opinion and outlook on anabolic steroids. Having health class in high school was a key in my learning Page 4 of 8 process.
